READ LEGATES PROJECT LAUNCH


DATE: THURSDAY, 21ST MARCH 2024      

VENUE: AYAWASO CENTRAL MUNICIPAL EDUCATION     DIRECTORATE CONFERENCE HALL –KOTOBABI, ACCRA

Read Legates Project Launch: the invited guests and learners were seated by 9:00 a.m. this was follow up by open prayer by Gity Odi a learner from Kotobabi Basic 3.

Madam Felicia Adu Mensah, the Supervision and Monitoring of Teaching and learning who represents the Municipal Director of Ghana Education Service welcome the participants the learners and all stakeholders to the program and thank Read Foundation International (FRI Ghana) for Choosing the Ayawaso Central to lunch this important projects. She emphasized that the project came at the right time when reading has become a parity of stakeholders in education and I assure a maximum corporation of the Municipality for success of Read Legates Projects.

Mr Issah Abdul Wahab the Director of Read Foundation International address the gathering on the purpose of the program. He made it known that the Read Legates Projects is part of the activities to mark the 10th anniversary of Read Foundation International to expand its operation beyond Northern Ghana and tanked the municipality and the other stakeholders for warm reception and cooperation from the inception to implementation of the project from planet stage to the implementation.

On the overview of Read Legates Projects the Project Manager of Read Foundation International Mr Umar Alhassan indicates that this is the foundation's contribution towards the achievement of Sustainable Development Goal four (4) which is QUALITY EDUCATION Ensures inclusive and equitable quality education and promotes lifelong learning opportunities for all. He said Read Legates Projects will promote lifelong learning opportunities for thousands of learners by the end of 2030 and indirectly impact and provide quality education for over 50,000 learners through the agenda 2030 of the foundation towards achieving a substantial increase in the number of youth and adults who have relevant skills, including technical and vocational skills, for employment, decent jobs, and entrepreneurship. He stated that the project is designed to inculcate the habit of voluntary reading of books with an assessment system to guide learners to increase their vocabulary and also draw lessons from each book read throughout the project life cycles and beyond and also impart discipline in them to become future leaders of thinkers and solution providers.

The projects coordinator Madam Lydia Asantewa Owusu who is the Language Coordinator, of Ghana Education Service loud that the unique design of the projects the materials used, and the mode of assessments particularly the lessons learned from the read Legends projects. She demonstrated personal lessons and impact from one of the project books by tittle “THE BAG OF GOLD” by author Eric Sakey will go a long way to install discipline and moral behavior amount learners when they read the books. She can't the management of weed Foundation International and the partners for choosing Ayawaso Central Municipal for this life changing projects and pray that the foundation will increase both the number of schools and the number of beneficiaries of the projects.

Mr Eric sakey an Author and Executive Director of Kannia Foundation express was full of joy that his work is making an impact and pledge their support for the projects by donating 300 assorted books for the projects. He admonishes the beneficiaries to take this opportunity to become good leaders as a child who reads will be an adult who thinks. He assured the stakeholders of their support towards the achievement of Read Legate projects and education as a whole.

Madame Diana the school coordinator at Kotobabi Basic 3 tanked the foundation for the wonderful initiative and promised the support of staff for the achievement of the project goal. Mr. Ato Andison the school coordinator from Daddy Pride Academy tasked the beneficiaries to be the agents of change from the narratives that if you want to hit something from an African you should keep it in a book.

Mr. Ampadu the private school coordinator at Ghana Education Service led the team to declare the project launched.

Mr. Emmanuel Benefo the Public Relations Officer on behalf of the Municipal Education Directorate thanked RFI GHANA, Partners colleague staff, and learners for their cooperation for an educative presentation and successful project launch.
